In this article I will talk about wedding centerpieces and give some examples of creative ideas of floral centerpieces that have worked for me and that I have seen. Do you have to match the wedding bouquets and the wedding centerpieces? What are some tips for the wedding centerpieces?

The wedding centerpieces do not have to match the wedding bouquets in the same color, kind of family but they can be different flowers, completely different flowers but even just one of the same colors. Just make sure that it’s somehow linked to the bridesmaids and to their dresses and the bouquets that they held but as long as there is one connecting color so that you can see how they all go together in some small way that’s all that is necessary. Another very important part of wedding planning is arranging flowers and decoration. What flowers should you use and what are some that you should never use? Any flower is acceptable, however obviously it kind of goes by seasons or what’s in style, what is in bloom and what is not. And you can definitely do seasonal flowers; there are some carnations that are usually not appropriate as wedding flowers. They’re not allowed. But you know what? They are making a comeback too, so sometimes they are included. It really just again depends on the theme of the wedding.

My rule with wedding flowers is if someone is really, really particular about your flowers, obviously go with your color scheme. So what you do is that you or either the bride and groom pick. If they are more into what the bridesmaids are going to wear and the color of the linen and things like that, make those decisions first, and then go to your flowers. (more…)

A lot of people have to deal with picky guests and with deciding what to serve. There is some general advice that I can offer with regard to the catering selection.

The general advice I have to offer for wedding catering is for picking a caterer. Wedding catering can make or break your wedding 100 percent because they are responsible for for the setup and the breakdown of the wedding locations. The wedding caterers are who can be responsible for the seating; one of the biggest problems that can happen is that if the caterer you know doesn’t set up enough chairs at a table that’s a huge. Nowadays there is a movement beyond the traditional church setting and an evolution in wedding locations. People are definitely steering away from traditional church weddings or temple weddings and wedding locations like that.

Some people want to get married in a place a little bit more personal like their family or to the bride and groom’s home. As I talked about before its this wave of more personalized weddings. They want to go someplace that really means something special to them, and if it’s not church or whatever particular religious background they have then it’s something that they want to do the wedding on a place they love like on the beach, they want to be out by the water. The general wedding planning timeline for developing and mapping out this schedule is typically about a year. Most engagements are done about a year before the marriage. It’s really important to ask the bride and groom, how long they’ve been engaged. Sometimes they are calling a wedding planner the day after or on the day of the engagement and I say why don’t you just sit and think about what you want for a week or two.

The couple has plenty of time and think about a date and about different dates that are available. Many couples don’t know how to plan a wedding and they rely on wedding planning consultants to help them. Nowadays weddings are becoming bigger and bigger and couples want to make more complex and more expensive weddings. This is why there is so much work in the wedding planning industry compared to 20 years ago.

How do you decide what kind of wedding cake is best from taste, size and design? Some wedding cakes are more popular than others. The ones I basically have just dealt with are either very simple cakes that are tiered but they don’t actually have the tiers with them, so they’re a layered cake. Simple and usually with three different layers to it. Now there is a huge trend and it’s called abstract like Alice in Wonderland looking cakes that almost look like they’re lopsided and one is a lopsided square and then you’ve got a circle and a little sphere at the top. Each part one has got a different pattern on it, but two completely different styles but these styles have become really, really popular.

When it comes to the wedding cakes tasking, obviously do that when you are picking out your cake. Basically if you have got different layers, you can have different layer, a chocolate layer or you can have just basic vanilla or almond flavored. Then you have the kinds of different creams in them and most large bakeries can pretty much make whatever kind you want.
